About Us
Clwb is a new member-led business collective whose mission is to provide a forum to assist Welsh entrepreneurs and ambitious business professionals to become more successful. Clwb acts as a gateway to a range of resources and benefits for all those running or managing a business.
Clwb was created in September 2007 by John Hurst, Liam Giles and Claire Swindell, along with the support of a pioneering group of local business people. Originating as a business group on the social networking website Facebook, the membership base grew rapidly, pointing towards the need for its own interactive site.
Our aim was to make people aware of business events and opportunities in Wales and get more like minded business people talking. Facebook was a great way to action that in a short space of time, allowing us to create an interactive community. We built up a good network of businesses from a range of industries and, very quickly, news about the group spread. The launch of our own interactive site now provides an accessible source of information and business support for people.
On 17th January 2008, Clwb staged its launch event, attracting more than 120 business professionals, with over 40 businesses on the reserve list. The evening highlighted the need for a fresh approach to networking. As a response to demand, Clwb will host more member-only social networking events later this year.
Clwb is Wales' hottest business club because of its fresh philosophy of networking. Clwb's agenda is simply to benefit its members, and it hands the responsibility of growth and success to the individuals on board. With the membership base rapidly expanding, its potential as a forum to assist and support Welsh entrepreneurs and ambitious business people in becoming more successful is expanding all the time.
