Relaunch of business network aims to drive south east Wales businesses

The M4 Business Network officially marked its relaunch today (Tuesday, March 3rd) at an executive breakfast at the Celtic Manor Resort and Golf Club in Newport.

The Network's new main sponsors, Peacheys Chartered Accountants, arranged for former global CEO of Burger King Barry Gibbons to speak at the event. Mr Gibbons, who earned the title of ‘Turnaround Champ' due to his phenomenal success in boosting the company's fortunes, dished up some of his top tips in leadership and management.

The M4 Business Network is a voluntary organisation founded in 1994. It is the premier business networking club in south east Wales, with a wide membership of local professionals and business people.

The club is sponsored by Peacheys' Chartered Accountants, South Wales Argus, Working Word PR, Barclays Bank PLC, Simple Profitable Solutions, The Celtic Manor Resort, Stills Design, the Welsh Assembly Government's Department of Enterprise, Innovation and Networks, SHA Communication, The University of Wales Newport and Centre for Business.

The club's executive committee is formed from the sponsors under the chairmanship of Steve Sulley, marketing director of Peacheys. The club has historically hosted four breakfast events a year and it now plans to add other events to the calendar throughout 2009/10.

Mr Sulley said: "The M4 Business Network has been successfully driving communication between south east Wales business for 15 years now, and as the new principle sponsors, we decided to build on this success and relaunch the club.

"We have invested time and money into an exciting programme of events for 2009, and have high profile and inspirational speakers attending our forthcoming events, namely Charles Morgan, managing director of the Morgan Motor Company, Gerald Ratner, former CEO if Ratners, and a senior Barclays Group executive."

The M4 Business Network has a current membership of more than 200 individuals. Breakfasts are held at the Celtic Manor Golf Club, Augusta Suite, on Tuesdays in March, May, September and November. They start at 7.45am and end at 9am.
